In the world of shoot 'em up games, there's rarely a title that manages to balance action-packed gameplay with offbeat humor as well as Gal Gun Double Peace. Developed by Inti Creates and published by Marvelous USA, this sequel to 2013's Gal Gun: Vanquishers on Rails Deluxe promises more frenetic shooting fun than ever before.

Story-wise, you take control of our hero-in-blue once again - a high school student who's been conscripted into an elite group known as the 'Galman' to fight against hordes of alien women. These are no ordinary gal-gees though; they're armed with deadly projectiles and will stop at nothing to seduce you senseless.

Gameplay-wise, Gal Gun Double Peace doesn't stray far from its predecessors' tried-and-tested formula. You'll still run left or right while firing your trusty Buster Blaster up or down at incoming enemies in a desperate bid for survival. New additions include the ability to dodge enemy attacks by tilting your controller (or using the right stick on PS3/PS4) and an all-new 'X-ray' mode which allows you to see through enemy bodies before striking them with devastating precision.

Graphically speaking, Gal Gun Double Peace looks like a slightly prettier version of its predecessor - not necessarily bad news given how pretty those alien gal-gees look in motion. The environments are equally as vibrant and detailed as one would expect from an Inti-created title, although some minor screen tearing can occasionally mar the otherwise smooth experience.

Sound-wise? Expect more over-the-top Japanese pop music mixed with plenty of moans and groans courtesy of our heroine's many female foes. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but fans will likely appreciate this faithful recreation of Gal Gun Double Peace's audio presentation.

In conclusion, if you enjoyed the first two games in the series then GalGun:DoublePeace should prove to be business as usual - and that’s perfectly fine given how much fun it still manages to deliver. Just remember; don't get too distracted by all those pretty girls or else... well, let's just say 'you're a squid now'!
